Overview
SquArea is a grid-coverage puzzle about drawing tidy squares and rectangles that satisfy area constraints without overlap. Each number claims a region, and your job is to partition the board so totals fit exactly while leaving space for neighbors. The craft is edges and corridors: anchor large counts against borders to reduce ambiguity, carve slim corridors between regions to keep future shapes possible, and expand rectangles only when a remaining area can still be satisfied. Visual clarity keeps scanning light—soft guides mark provisional edges and gentle shading shows claimed cells. The cadence becomes plan, outline, confirm, extend. When options narrow, test a border: extend one line; if it crowds a neighbor, retract and try the other axis. Misses teach—overgrowth means a rectangle ignored a neighbor’s count, trapped corridors indicate an early claim sealed possibilities, and tiny islands reveal that a large region needed border anchoring first. Correction is friendly: roll back the last outline, anchor a big count, and resume with calm extensions. Completed boards look like neat blueprints, satisfying because the math and geometry clicked together under patient, honest lines.
